99 years ago when the R.M.S. Titanic sank miserably in the North Atlantic, taking along with her the hopes and dreams of over 1500 passengers and crewmembers aboard, would anyone foresee that the legacy of Titanic could inspire so much poetry, prose, art, theatre, film, and romance. Yes, romance.
It’s happened again at the Titanic Museum Attraction in Branson, Missouri. We’ve seen estranged lovers reunite on the Grande Staircase, marriage vows renewed in the hundreds, proposals of marriage, and grand nuptials have taken place in both museum locations, Branson, Missouri, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Just last week, a gentleman named, Josh, proposed to his beloved, Kim, on the Grand Staircase. We were all caught off guard; he had planned this all on his own, which made his endeavor all the more sweet and poignant. You see, the first date these two had with one another was at our museum, this inspired them to view their very first film together, James Cameron’s Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the young, headstrong, protagonist Jack Dawson, and Kate Winslet, who plays rebellious Rose, both characters fictitious devices to tell the true tale of Titanic and her passengers and crew. Fictitious, but powerful nevertheless, the tale of these two and their pursuit of love and freedom has sparked many a romance and longing for a more chivalrous and elegant time.
It wasn’t long after that Kim had a dream that Josh proposed to her at our museum, and low and behold….he did! Dreams do come true. We can only hope that their lives continue to be filled with passion and whimsy; I for one believe that Kim is one lucky lady. Not every gentleman has the class and courage to make such a public risk, Kim dreamed of the proposal but she still could have declined, she did not.
It must be that romance is indeed in the air, what with the Royals about to tie the preverbal knot on Friday. It seems all lovers of late want to create their very own Fairytale.
Next year our museums will be ringing in the 100 anniversary of the R.M.S. Titanic’s Maiden Voyage. As we countdown to the official announcements of amazing events, festivities, and celebrations we encourage all of those of you who wish to keep the memory of Titanic alive to keep watching our web site for some of the most exciting news for the coming year Titanic lovers will ever have the opportunity to be involved in. We hope many more star crossed lovers like our Kim and Josh will continue to live out their dreams at our beautiful museums and stay connected for some exciting news designed just for our sweetheart guests.
Honor, Courage, Respect, these are the three words we use to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Titanic. It’s clear to me that Josh and Kim not only share those sentiments to those that went before them on board the great ship Titanic, but I’m certain they share these same powerful feelings for each other. We wish them all things wonderful.
