Shop til’ you drop at the TITANIC Museum GIFT SHOP!
Yes, the Titanic Museum Attraction has a gift shop, and yes, you go through the gift shop as you exit the museum, however the gift shop at the Titanic Museum Attraction is open to the public seven days a week during business hours, you do not have to tour the museum to enter the gift shop. Some might think that by exiting through the gift shop we are trying to tempt you and yes you would be correct, and why not?
I personally love museum gift shops, some of the most unique items can be found in the gift shops of fine museums. Take the Smithsonian for instance, absolutely amazing finds, reflective of the thousands of displays that one will encounter through the Smithsonian Institute, they even have a catalogue. There is the tremendous gift emporium connected with The Louvre museum in Paris, unusual, delectable pieces of artwork you will not find anywhere in the world. Although not a standard museum, more of a natural wonder, one of my favorite gift shops can be found right here in the Ozarks. Talking Rocks Cavern has beautiful products, crystals, minerals, and stones, fashioned in sculpture and jewelry. Good Heavens, on the original R.M.S. Titanic, one would buy souvenirs at the Barber Shop on board. We have an original souvenir artifact from the Titanic purchased at the Barber Shop on the ship. It’s priceless.
And then there is our gift shop, offering one of kind, Titanic inspired pieces. Our jewelry case is brimming with Victorian and Edwardian hair ornaments, combs, clasps, clips, and tiaras resplendent with jewels and filigree. Necklaces, watches, ear bobs, lockets, pendants, rings, and bracelets. Take for instance a jewelry designer out of the state of Missouri that specializes in taking turn of the century shoe buckles and fashioning them into wrist cuffs and chokers. The buckles were found in a Missouri cave and are of art neuveau design, gleaming with marquesite they are paired with glittering stones and pearls and they are truly from the Titanic period. And of course we have “The Heart of the Ocean” necklace! A replica of the necklace made famous in the Titanic movie, we have two one that’s very pretty and very reasonable, and then we have the showstopper, an Austrian Crystal number that will knock your eye out!
We have such an extensive library of Titanic books, CD’s, and DVD’s, that you might mistake the gift shop for a book store. These books are the cream of the crop regarding Titanic information, true accounts, memoirs, reference books, children’s books, and of course we carry all the film that has been covered on Titanic, including the amazing documentaries produced by John Joslyn, owner of the Titanic Museum Attraction.
There are complete sets of copies of First Class China, we have stemware, crystal ships, candy, toys, and yes we have a First Class Maid Doll, who looks quite a bit like me.
So much you must see and don’t worry we have our share of fun souvenirs too, like shot glasses, and flashing ice cubes, post cards, and oh! Speaking of cards, we have a beautiful collection of greeting cards, all with that turn of the century theme. And you are in luck this month because we are celebrating Christmas in July with a Christmas tree filled with ornaments and the like to give you all a head start, and a unique feature we like to bring to Branson. We have a guest author visiting this week, Bruce Caplan, editor of the original tome concerning the Titanic Tragedy, Sinking of the Titanic. A charming man that is a joy to meet and is a leading authority on all things Titanic and tours the world giving lectures and happens to be a Seattle, Washington radio personality. Please do yourself a favor and come meet Bruce. He is knowledgeable and very funny, quick with a joke and a wink.
Our Titanic Gift shop is handled by the best crew you can find. Our busy staff are first class maids to do your bidding and help you with your every question and need. Their manager is Officer Maggie Stakes who makes sure that all runs smooth; shelves are stocked and artfully produced. Her presence in the gift shop is always appreciated, she makes young and old alike feel like she has been waiting to help only them for months. Like a long awaited house guest that has finally arrived. We won’t be seeing Maggie for awhile, sadly for us she will be going off on a new adventure, but we wish her all the best and want her to know she will be sorely missed.
The reason why our gift shop is so GREAT! Is because of the buyer, hats off to Lois Warner. She has an eye for the unusual; she has an uncanny ability to know what will go. She is a world traveler and very busy fashioning gift shops all over the globe, a true “Globe Trotter”, and she is very devoted to Titanic! Lucky us.
So I hope I have intrigued you to come in and SHOP!!!!!
